Party Walls and Boundaries
The Party Wall etc Act 1996 is legislation that applies where someone wishes to carry out work on, or close to a boundary. The work may be the construction of a new structure, changes to an existing structure or an intention to carry out excavations.
There are specific distances from the boundary specified under the act.
If you are planning to undertake any work close to your boundary, or on a party wall, or your neighbour intends to carry out work near your boundary, you should discuss this with a qualified Party Wall Surveyor.
Philip raw & Co Ltd are qualified in party wall matters. Please contact us to discuss your concerns or requirements.
Boundaries
A Boundary Survey is the process of carrying out a survey to define where a boundary position is.
Sometimes boundaries get covered over of even moved over time. Re-estabilising the actual boundary can become important for a variety of reasons and the actual position can become critical due to the requirement for building.
We have many years experience in dealing with such matters. However it has to be said boundary issues are not always straight forward and quite often require some research to try and establish lost fence posts on over grown hedges.
If you would like to discuss your requirements please contact Philip Raw & Co.
